Shaping a Sustainable Future

Having a positive impact on the environment is at the heart of everything we do. From the way we operate and what we do with our waste, to our packaging and the impact of our products on heating system efficiency, we’re committed to making a real difference.

Our Mission

As part of Genuit Group, we’re committed to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions to 30% by 2027, increasing annual sourcing of renewable electricity from 94% in 2021 to 100% by 2030. Genuit Group further commits that 83% of its suppliers will have science-based emissions target for goods and services by 2027.

What we’re doing about it

We’re on a mission to make big changes that have a positive impact on the environment. That means not just looking at what our products do, but how we make them, package them, and ship them too.

So far we’ve made a difference by:

  • Switching to more sustainable product packaging, reducing card use by 72 tonnes per year.
  • Reducing the weight in our packaged product to save on transport weight, saving 128 gallons of fuel per year.
  • Moving to digital product manuals in all our boxes, reducing paper use by 3 tonnes per year.
  • Removing excess plastic from boxes, reducing plastic use by 5.5 tonnes.
  • Introducing hybrid & electric cars to the ADEY fleet.
  • Recycling 97% of our waste within 5 miles of HQ.
  • Sourcing materials locally where possible.
  • Introducing movement sensors to lighting at our facilities.

Keeping heating systems clean

Our products don’t just save money, they help the planet too. Designed to keep heating systems working to their optimum efficiency, our filters, chemicals and ADEY Best Practice® process prevent one of the most common causes of heating system breakdown; poor water quality.

Following the ADEY Best Practice® can:

  • Reduce carbon emissions by up to 7% per home per year.
  • Reduce gas use by up to 7% per home per year.
  • Increase boiler life by up to 7 years.

What does all this mean?

The steps we’ve taken to make environmental improvements, and the fact that our filters are now installed in over 10 million homes globally means we’ve managed to reduce the carbon equivalent to:

Offsetting 774,000 cars a year. That’s equivalent to taking all the cars in Iceland of the road twice over.

Offsetting over 200,000 around the world flights

Switching off 34.2 million kettles

Contributing to BIG change

There are a number of exciting research projects that we’re proud to support.

Organisations including UCL, the University of Oxford, the Energy Demand Observatory and Laboratory (EDOL), and the University of Birmingham are working on projects to develop advanced technologies aimed at recycling more complex materials.

And we continue to work to make a difference in Government too.

In 2023, we lobbied the Government to include water treatment in their Help for Households campaign to raise awareness of the impact of poor water quality on the cost of living for homeowners. You can see deep clean in the Government advice here

We’re dedicated to making a difference, so we’re not stopping there.

Carbon Neutral Organisation

We are proud that ADEY is a Carbon Neutral certified business.

Offsetting carbon helps prevent climate change. Last year, for every Net Change in Greenhouse Gas Emissions, we committed to planting a tree in school grounds, as well as supporting prevention of deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest. These projects help contribute to our positive impact both educationally and environmentally.

In 2022, ADEY offset 768 tonnes of CO2 and planted 406 trees in the UK & Kenya.

This year, we are participating in the Zoba Anseba Community Safe Water Project, Supporting the provision of safe water using borehole technology to hundreds of households within the Zoba Anseba district.

ADEY's Partnership with Forest Green Rovers

We’re proud to be a FGR Community partner. FGR has well-publicised environmental goals, and are based in our local community. This partnership with ADEY will help FGR Community to continue its work with schools, community groups and vulnerable people to not only raise awareness of the impact of climate change, but other social issues like mental health and loneliness as well.
