Meet our Finance Apprentice, Keala Walker.

Introducing Keala, our Finance Assistant and one of our ADEY apprentices.  Keala is currently undertaking a Level 2 Certificate in Accounting and aims to finish later this Summer.

Why did you apply for an apprenticeship at ADEY?

I started at ADEY as a temp and was soon offered a permanent role as an Account Assistant; I was then given the opportunity to study towards achieving the AAT qualification.

I opted for the apprenticeship route as it strikes the ideal balance between gaining practical, hands-on experience and acquiring a comprehensive understanding of complex concepts in a real-world context.

What have you learnt since starting your apprenticeship?

During my apprenticeship, I have gained a deeper understanding of the industry, including best practices and regulations.

The ability to balance work and study has been instrumental in honing my time management skills.I have also learned to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.

What part of working at ADEY do you enjoy the most?

What I enjoy most about working at ADEY is the opportunity to apply my knowledge in a practical setting and see the impact of my work.

I also appreciate the collaborative environment, where the team is very supportive and willing to give insights creating a positive atmosphere for both my personal and professional growth.

Any exciting projects coming up during your apprenticeship?

I have two exams left and will start working toward my end-point assessment. After I have completed my level 2, I will hopefully be moving on to my Level 3 AAT. I’m really looking forward to gaining my qualifications.

Any words of advice for someone looking to become an ADEY apprentice?

My advice would be to stay open to learning new ways and not be afraid to ask questions.

Meet our Sales Apprentice, Nathan Colocott.

Introducing Nathan, our Sales Business Development Executive and one of our ADEY apprentices. Nathan is currently undertaking a Sales Executive apprenticeship and aims to finish in December this year.

Why did you apply for an apprenticeship at ADEY?

I decided to apply for an apprenticeship at ADEY because I was really keen to get to grips with the theoretical side of sales. I was then able to put these skills into practice in my job.

What have you learnt since starting your apprenticeship?

Since starting my apprenticeship, I have been able to improve my negotiation skills and techniques which has shown dividends in my requirement to negotiate effectively on behalf of ADEY.

What part of working at ADEY do you enjoy the most?

Working at ADEY, I really enjoy being front-facing to our customers, whilst also being given the responsibility to dictate actions within my area. I find it particularly rewarding to be able to contribute towards ADEY’s overall expectations and goals.

Any exciting projects coming up during your apprenticeship?

In February, I will be attending a workshop with the aim of developing skills that will enhance my professional practice. I believe this will be highly beneficial to me, as the saying goes, knowledge is power.

Obtaining the necessary skills and techniques will increase my proficiency in my customers’ working practices, and in turn, I will be able to negotiate more effectively.

Any words of advice for someone looking to become an ADEY apprentice?

The team here at ADEY are highly experienced in not only the market we operate in but also sales as a whole, so do not be afraid to reach out and discuss the theoretical side of what you are learning on the apprenticeship, and how best to incorporate it into your role at ADEY.

Meet our HR Apprentice, Elizabeth Warren.

Introducing Elizabeth, our HR Business Partner and one of our ADEY apprentices. Elizabeth is currently undertaking a Level 5 People Professional apprenticeship and aims to finish it towards the end of this year.

Why did you apply for an apprenticeship at ADEY?

I had already been working at ADEY for two years when I saw an opportunity to continue developing my knowledge and skill set as a people professional.

I had studied my Level 3 CIPD qualification in 2021 and this felt like the right opportunity to continue my CIPD qualifications and professional development.

What have you learnt since starting your apprenticeship?

During the course, I have covered a variety of topics, including building people capability within the business, increasing my commercial awareness, and using evidence-based practice to support and implement new ideas.

I’m really excited about my next module, which is all about wellbeing. It’s one of the main reasons I chose to work in HR, so I’m really looking forward to it.

What part of working at ADEY do you enjoy the most?

I really enjoy the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of activities; while it is a cliché, each day brings unique experiences. I also appreciate the encouragement to explore new opportunities.

Any exciting projects coming up during your apprenticeship?

I am currently working on improving the induction program for the ADEY group.

I have also been involved with a project on engagement which has also allowed me to see some of the lean tools we use within the business be brought to life. I am excited to see where these projects will take us.

Any words of advice for someone looking to become an ADEY apprentice?

My advice would be to get stuck in and ask lots of questions. Get support from the people around you as there are lots of great people within the business with lots of experience.

Meet our Sales Apprentice, Tom Holley.

Introducing Tom, our Sales Business Development Executive one of our ADEY apprentices. Tom is currently undertaking a Level 4 Sales Executive apprenticeship and aims to finish it in Spring this year.

Why did you apply for an apprenticeship at ADEY?

I actually started my apprenticeship journey in the roofing sector.

I learnt a lot within the sector but I felt something was missing, that’s when I saw the opportunity to work for ADEY who agreed to take on my apprenticeship.

I was interested in ADEY because of its exceptional working culture, one of the foundations of which is that we work together and this has been evident in the short time I’ve been here.

What have you learnt since starting your apprenticeship?

With limited sales experience before the apprenticeship, I can happily say that since starting at ADEY, it has helped me grow not just in my career but as a person.

What I’m most proud of is my customer-focused approach as without our loyal customer base we wouldn’t be where we are today.

What part of working at ADEY do you enjoy the most?

There are many parts of ADEY which are enjoyable but I think the biggest area for me is how we work together and the relationship everyone has with each other.

This not only goes for internal but external relationships as well.

Any exciting projects coming up during your apprenticeship?

I am currently in the process of entering the final stages of my learning to complete my apprenticeship, so all eyes will be on my final project.

Any words of advice for someone looking to become an ADEY apprentice?

If you’re looking to become an ADEY apprentice, then I’d wholeheartedly say do it!
