Having worked closely with Dodd Group for many years, when we began working on our latest MagnaClean® filter designed for specification, we decided to consult them as a strategic partner to better understand what the real pain points were in the social housing domestic heating sector.

Completing 100s of boiler installs per week, with an average of over 60 boiler installs per week for clients such as Wolverhampton Homes and Walsall Housing Group, Dodd Group works throughout the country across various frameworks and contracts.

With over 1,000 directly employed and a further 3,500 sub-contractors across their mechanical and electrical teams, it’s safe to say that Dodd Group were more than qualified to provide the insights that we needed to help craft a solution for the unique challenges in contract retrofit.

Fast forward 12 months and various iterations from the early concept, we launched the MagnaClean AtomSC™ super compact compliance pack.

Consulting with Dodd Group from the very early stages of the project, what became apparent as the over-arching consideration was the restrictive space allowances needed for such installations.

The ability for a small filter to fit immediately under or in a tight space alongside the boiler has led to the MagnaClean AtomSC™ being the most compact magnetic filter we have developed to date with a pipe cut-out dimension of only 60mm.

Working alongside Dodd Group as a combination of site visits and conference calls with our product design teams, the input from Dodd Group allowed almost every aspect of their requirements to be incorporated in some way. All whilst maintaining the primary requirement; to be super compact.

With the long-standing relationships that Dodd Group have with their clients, it also allowed for key features to be built into the product which benefitted not only the initial installation of the appliance but the serviceable life of the system for ongoing maintenance.

With this in mind, we set about to ensure that the MagnaClean AtomSC™ was fully serviceable.

The removable filter canister ensures that all of the magnetite contained within the filter can be accessed and removed at the annual service and that the filter can be isolated to do so; using the built-in isolation valve on the filter and boiler return isolator, to provide full filter-to-boiler isolation.

This ensures that any magnetite captured can be completely removed and prevented from re-entering the system to potentially compromise the long-term reliability or efficiency of the appliance and system.

To aid in flushing the system at installation and for longer-term maintenance, an optional flushing accessory has also been developed which connects directly to the MagnaClean AtomSC™.

Using the compatible MagnaCleanse® rapid flushing machine, systems can be deep cleaned quickly and efficiently. The powerful dual magnetic core extracts all of the suspended magnetite, with no need to continually dilute the system, wasting large volumes of water or chemicals as with a traditional power flush.

However, it doesn’t end there.

Since one of the requirements for Dodd Group’s client specification is to demonstrate compliance with BS7593:2019, we also made the MagnaClean AtomSC™ available as a complete compliance pack containing all of the products required to adhere to, and more importantly, demonstrate compliance with BS7593:2019.

Each pack contains MC3+® system cleaner and ADEY MC1+® system protector. Critically, all package options also include two test strips for the ADEY ProCheck ® Universal Digital Water Test Kit, providing instant results on a smartphone for pH, corrosion, inhibitor and turbidity, with all results then stored on the ADEY Sense® portal.

Furthermore, Part L compliance can also be achieved by selecting from two further packages containing either ADEY MagnaScale2® or the ADEY ElectroScale2® in-line mains cold water scale reducers.

This all-in-one compliance solution makes it easy to specify, procure and comply with customer specifications and regulations.
